Chris King Robinson’s musical journey began at age 9 with his first Fender Stratocaster, but his passion for the blues started much earlier, inspired by legends like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, and Buddy Guy.
By 2011, after thousands of hours honing his craft and sharing dozens of clips on YouTube, Chris was recognized as one of the world’s top undiscovered guitarists by esteemed international music photographer Robert Knight. Knight, in collaboration with Fender, was on a global quest to find the next great guitarist.
In 2013, Chris’s online popularity skyrocketed. With millions of hits on YouTube, he quickly became the most followed blues guitarist on Twitter. This surge in interest led Chris to self-produce and release his first single, “Lipstick On Her Cigar,” which hit No. 1 on the iTunes and Amazon Blues charts just one day after its release on November 20th.
By 2014, public demand for live performances prompted Chris to form his own four-piece group, ‘The Chris King Robinson Band.’ The band swiftly gained recognition as one of the country’s most electrifying live acts. Their reputation was cemented in July 2014 when they headlined The Suwalki Blues Festival in Poland, playing to thousands of enthusiastic fans.
The year 2015 was pivotal for Chris. Fresh from a highly successful two-week tour of the USA, his debut EP, ‘Tell Me Why You’re Scared,’ soared to No. 1 on both the Amazon and iTunes album charts. An in-depth feature in The Blues Magazine in November 2015 further boosted his status as a burgeoning guitar hero, with his track “Why Don’t You Give Me Your Love” featured on the magazine’s CD.
In 2016, Chris’s modern approach to the blues led him to perform at the exclusive Lead Belly Festival at Carnegie Hall in New York City on February 4th. Introduced by Marky Ramone, Chris delivered a blistering psychedelic jam to a sold-out crowd.
In November 2017, the CKR Band headlined a major blues club in Poland. Top Polish music star and celebrity Grzegorz Skawiński was in attendance and enamored with the band. He offered his music production skills to the trio—Chris King Robinson (CKR), Tom Relihan, and Nig Turner—along with the chance to record at his prestigious Maska Studio in Gdańsk, Poland. This collaboration resulted in their 13-track debut album, self-titled ‘Chris King Robinson,’ now available for the world to hear.
Recently, Chris has ventured into the world of guitar effects by starting his own company, Pedal Pawn. The company has gained incredible traction, working with top artists worldwide and having its pedals featured on renowned shows like Andertons, That Pedal Show, and JHS Pedals. Although Chris is currently taking some time off from touring, he is set to return with a vengeance soon...
