As a child he spent time around his family's music which has Irish routes, in which he grew up listening to the likes of The Pogues, Christy Moore and the Dubliners; although Tom's style of playing comes from a very progressive and classic rock background, having been influenced by Phil Collins' drumming from Genesis whilst also listening to Rush, King Crimson and Yes.
The love of Phil Collins' work awoke in more a versatile route to Tom learning to play drums from, more notably listening to and feeling the blues from Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix and so on..
Since the age of 15 upwards he has played professionally in bands from across the globe, ranging from styles like Pop, Jazz, Rock, Britpop, Folk and of course Blues.
Aside from being a drummer he is also a solo artist and multi-instrumentalist. He writes his own lyrics, music and produces, mixes and masters his records under the stage name Don Brooker. Tom plays Sonor drums, Zildjian Cymbals, Evans Drumheads and uses Pro Mark Sticks.
